REGULATIONS GOVERNING THREE YEAR LL. B. DEGREE COURSE IN LAW<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The Vice Chancellor of the Karnataka State Law University, Hubli makes the following Regulations under Section 86 read with Section 34 (2) (ii) and Section 49 of the\u00a0Karnataka State Law University Act, 2009.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>

01 TITLE<\/strong>
\nThese Regulations may be called as \u201cthe Karnataka State Law University\u2019s Regulations Governing the Three Year LL. B. Degree Course in Law\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>

\n\t

02 EXTENT<\/strong><\/p>\n

These Regulations extend to all University Law Colleges, Departments of Studies in Law and all affiliated Law Colleges within the jurisdiction of the Karnataka State Law University which are accorded permission to start Three Year Degree Course in Law.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>

03 COMMENCEMENT<\/strong><\/p>\n

These Regulations shall come into force from the beginning of the academic year 2009-10.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>

04 DEFINITIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n

In these Regulations, the expressions, \u201cUniversity\u201d, \u201cUniversity Area\u201d, \u201cCollege\u201d, \u201cAffiliated College\u201d, \u201cDepartment\u201d, \u201cDepartment of Studies\u201d, \u201cPost Graduate Department\u201d, \u201cPost Graduate Department of Studies\u201d, \u201cTeachers\u201d, \u201cUniversity\u201d, \u201cUniversity Area\u201d, \u201cUniversity College\u201d and \u201cPrincipal\u201d bear the same meaning \/ s as assigned under Section 2 of the Karnataka State Law University Act, 2009.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>

\n\t

\u00a0<\/em>05 THE COURSE & DURATION<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  • (a) LL. B. Three Year degree course shall be of three years\u2019 duration spread over six semesters.<\/li>\n
  • (b) Each Academic Year shall be divided into two Semesters<\/li>\n
  • (c) Each Semester shall consist of 18 weeks.<\/li>\n
  • (d) The papers and the syllabus shall be as given in the Schedule appended to these Regulations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>

    \n\t

    06 Instructions & Training<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

      \n
    • (a) Instructions and training for the course shall be not less than 30 class-hours per week including tutorials, moot room exercise and seminars provided there shall be at least 24 lecture hours per week.<\/li>\n
    • (b) There shall be for each paper four class hours of one hour duration each and one hour of tutorial \/\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 moot court\/project work per week.<\/li>\n
    • (c) Each registered student shall have completed minimum of 12 weeks of internship during the entire\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 period of legal studies under NGO, Trial and Appellate Advocates, Judiciary, Legal Regulatory authorities, Legislatures and Parliament, other Legal Functionaries, Market Institutions, Law Firms, Companies and Local Self Government.<\/li>\n
    • (d) The internship in any year cannot be for a continuous period of more than Four Weeks and all\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 students shall at least gone through once in the entire academic period with Trial and Appellate Advocates.<\/li>\n
    • (e) Each student shall keep internship diary in the form stipulated by the University and the same shall be evaluated by the Guide in Internship and also a Core Faculty member of the staff each time. The total marks shall be assessed in the Final Semester of the course in the 4th Clinical paper as stipulated under the Schedule appended to these Regulations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Explanation<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

      A College or Department shall be deemed to be working whole time if the working time of the College or University Department extends to at least eight hours continuously on every working day comprising of class room teaching of four periods, each period being of one hour duration and the remaining four hours devoted to clinical, curricular and co-curricular activities.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>

      07 Eligibility Criteria for Admission<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

        \n
      • An applicant who has graduated in any discipline of knowledge from a University established by an Act of Parliament or by a State Legislature or an equivalent national institution recognized as a Deemed to be University or Foreign University recognized as equivalent to the status of an Indian University by an authority competent to declare equivalence, may apply for\u00a0Three year degreecourse in law leading to the conferment of LL.B. degree on successful completion of the regular programme conducted under the KSLU Regulations.<\/li>\n
      • Minimum percentage of marksin qualifying examination shall not be below 45% (44.5% and above shall be treated as 45%) of total marks in case of General category applicants, 42% (41.5% and above shall be treated as 42%) for OBC category and 40% (39.5% and above shall be treated as 40%) of total marks in case of SC and ST applicants.<\/li>\n
      • Maximum agefor seeking admission is limited to 30 yrs (thirty years) in case of General category of applicants and to 35 yrs (thirty five years) in the case of applicants from SC, ST and Other Backward Communities as on 25th<\/sup>\u00a0April, 2019.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Explanation<\/strong><\/p>\n

          \n
        • (i) An applicant who has passed the 3 year U.G. degree from Open or Deemed University recognized by & established under the UGC Act, after prosecuting the studies in the pattern of 10+2 at Secondary\/Higher Secondary Schooling is eligible for admission.<\/li>\n
        • (ii) The applicant who has passed the qualifying examination U.G. degree in a single sitting<\/u><\/strong>\u00a0examination is not eligible for admission to 3 yr LL.B Law Course of KSLU, Hubballi.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>
          \n
          \n\t

          08 Admission Procedure<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

            \n
          • Admission to the course shall be made strictly on the basis of the merit. While making admission to the course reservation policy of the Government of Karnataka governing admissions to higher educational institutions issued from time to time shall be observed.<\/li>\n
          • 2 seats under supernumerary quota shall be reserved for the Jammu and Kashmir students within the sanctioned intake until the last date of admission as per the orders of Govt. of India.<\/li>\n
          • 5% of seats shall be reserved for the Kashmiri Migrants until the last date of admission as per the orders of Govt. of India, Dept. of HRD, New-Delhi. The persons claiming the status of Kasmiri Migrants should produce the identity card issued by the Jurisdictional Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate of the Government of Karnataka to this effect.<\/li>\n
          • Reservation for Hyderabad- Karnataka students under Art 371(J) as per rules shall be adhered to 8% of the seats shall be reserved for them.<\/li>\n
          • 3% of seats shall be reserved for physically challenged students as per rules applicable.<\/li>\n
          • 5% of seats shall be reserved for Gadinadu\/Horanadu Kannadiga (Those studied 1 to 10 std. in kannada medium from the outside Karnataka state).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>

            \n\t

            09 Intake<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

              \n
            • (a) No College or Department of Studies in Law authorised to impart education in the LL.B. degree course shall admit more than60 students in one division.<\/li>\n
            • b) The University shall reserve the right to prescribe the number of divisions in each Law College or the Department of Studies in Law.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>

              \n\t

              10 Tution and Other Fees<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

              Candidate seeking admission to the LL. B. degree course and those admitted to such course shall pay the tuition and other fees as prescribed by the University from time to time.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>

              \n\t

              11 Curricula<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

                \n
              • (a) Candidates admitted to the LL. B. course shall have to attend 06 Semester courses spread over 3 years.<\/li>\n
              • (b) In each Semester, the students shall have to study the courses prescribed by the University in these Regulations.<\/li>\n
              • (c) The course descriptions shall be, as set out from time to time, in the Schedule.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>

                \n\t

                12 Medium of Instruction<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

                The medium of instruction in the LL. B. degree course shall be English. However, the examinees shall have the option to answer the question papers in the examination either in English or in Kannada.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>

                \n\t

                13 Attendance<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

                No student shall be permitted to appear for the end-of-semester examination in a given course unless he\/she has, to the satisfaction of the course teacher, fulfilled the course requirements and has put in not less than 70% attendance in the course concerned.<\/p>\n

                Provided that a student who has attended not less than 65% of classes in each of the subjects prescribed may be permitted to keep the term for reasons to be recorded in writing and to the satisfaction of the Principal of the College or the Dean of the Faculty as the case may be.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>

                \n\t

                14 Promotion<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

                  \n
                • (a) Every student shall be promoted to the next higher class irrespective of the fact that he has failed in any of the papers prescribed for the study.<\/li>\n
                • (b) Students are required to successfully complete the entire course within six years from admission to the course.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>

                  \n\t

                  15 Award of the Degree<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

                  A student shall be eligible for the award of the LL. B. (Bachelor of Laws) Degree after he\/she has successfully completed all the prescribed courses in all the semesters and provided his or her character and conduct is found to be satisfactory during the course.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>

                  \n\t

                  16 Award of Classes<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

                  The award of classes shall be as under:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

                    \n
                  • a) 70% and more First Class with Distinction<\/li>\n
                  • b) 60% and above but less than 70% First Class<\/li>\n
                  • c) 50% and above but less than 60% Second Class<\/li>\n
                  • d) 40% and above but less than 50% Pass Class<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>
                    \n
                    \n\t

                    17 Removal of Difficulty<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

                    If any difficulty arises in giving effect to the provisions of this Regulation the Vice Chancellor may by order of notification do anything which appears to him necessary for the purpose of removing the difficulty.<\/p>\n

                    Every such order so notified shall as soon as may be after its notification, be laid before the Academic Council and Syndicate for approval.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>

                    \n\t

                    18\u00a0 REPEAL AND SAVINGS CLAUSE<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

                      \n
                    • (a) Any Regulation existing hereinbefore governing the 3 years LL.B. course stand repealed.<\/li>\n
                    • (b) Any action, decision or direction taken or directed by the University under any Rule or Regulation in force at any time earlier than this Regulation coming into force, shall be valid, binding on the institutions and remain in force not withstanding anything contained in this Regulation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>
                      \n
                      \n\t

                      19 The necessary documents buy the Applicant to the college, a below<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

                        \n
                      • The Eligibility Certificate issued by the University, in case of Non-Karnataka and Foreign students 3 year LL.B at the time of admission.<\/li>\n
                      • 10th<\/sup>\u00a010. +2 and U.G.\/P.G. degree Marks cards of all years\/Semesters & Passing certificate in case of 3 year LL.B. at the time of admission.<\/li>\n
                      • In case of SC\/ST\/Cat-1\/OBC student, Caste & Income Certificate shall be submitted by student to the college at the time of admission.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>
